The collection
Every piece is numbered and made in small editions. When a run is complete, it is never made again.
The house
Four generations of the Aveline family have kept the rule our founder set on her first day: every piece is made from beginning to end by a single pair of hands.

Faubourg Saint-Honoré
1908Faubourg Saint-Honoré
Céleste Aveline rented two small rooms in Paris and cut evening gloves for the couture houses on her street. From the first pair she kept one rule: everything would be made from beginning to end by a single pair of hands.
1926The first evening bag
When a client asked for a bag to hold her gloves at the opera, Céleste cut a soft frame in black calfskin and hung it on two brass handles. Le Céleste is still made to her pattern, nearly a century later.
1954The atelier upstairs
Her son Henri opened a jewelry workshop on the floor above, setting stones by the even light of the courtyard windows. Every Aveline jewel is still drawn by hand before it is cast.
TodayFour generations
The house remains in the family and in the same Paris street. Our artisans train for three years before they sign a piece, and every object still leaves the bench of the person who began it.
Savoir-faire
An Aveline artisan follows a piece from the uncut hide to the last polish. Nothing is passed down a line, and nothing leaves the bench until the person who began it is satisfied.
22
hours
to cut, stitch and burnish a single Céleste, all at one bench.
1
pair of hands
from the first cut to the final polish. Their initials are stamped inside.
3
years of training
before an artisan is trusted to sign a piece with the house name.
4
generations
of the Aveline family, in the same Paris street since 1908.
Hides are chosen one at a time at two family tanneries in France and Italy.
Every panel is cut by hand with a round knife, following the grain of the leather.
Saddle-stitched with waxed linen thread, two needles at a time, so no seam can unravel.
Edges are painted and burnished in up to seven coats, then polished by hand.
The Aveline codes
They are written on the wall of every atelier, and every artisan learns them before they learn to hold a knife.
Our leathers come from two family tanneries, and our gold is recycled and certified. We can tell you where every piece began.
A piece leaves the atelier when it is finished, never when a season demands it. Some take a day. Some take a month.
Made to be repaired, never replaced. Every Aveline piece is cared for in our ateliers for as long as it is worn.
No logos on the outside, ever. An Aveline piece is recognized by those who know, and by no one else.
From Le Cercle
“My grandmother's bag went back to the atelier after sixty years. It came home with a new silk lining and the very same stitches.”
“I was invited to watch my ring being set. Two hours, one artisan, and not a single wasted movement.”
“Nothing is announced and nothing is loud. A letter arrives, and the new collection is simply there for you first.”
